HHS Cafeteria Renovation Information
April 12, 2019 - Part of the construction at Homewood High School includes renovations and additions to the cafeteria to provide additional seating space and to allow for a more efficient process in the serving and checkout areas.
In an effort to complete the cafeteria renovation for the start of school next year, the demolition of the kitchen will need to begin Monday, April 29. Breakfast and a hot lunch will still be served in the cafeteria during this time as the food will be prepared at Homewood Middle School and will be transported each day to the high school. Students will use new temporary serving lines and cafeteria seating will not change.
Food will be transported in insulated bags multiple times throughout the day and equipment will be in place at HHS for temperature control to assure safe food handling and compliance with the plan of action approved by the Jefferson County Health Department.
In anticipation of this renovation project, Homewood administrators have been working with our Child Nutrition Program staff to plan both the menus and needed logistics to ensure the needs of our students are met with minimal disruption.
Each Friday, HHS will serve Domino’s cheese or pepperoni pizza slices for lunch. This is made possible through Domino’s Smart Slice Program which allows schools to provide Domino’s pizzas that are designed specifically to meet USDA meal pattern regulations. We are excited about the many improvements being made to Homewood High School, and we thank you for your patience as we make great progress towards expanding our schools for our students, staff, and future growth of Homewood City Schools.
