Library Services and Procedures

  • The Homewood High School Library serves teachers and students as well as provides a quiet work space for small groups and individuals. This page contains information that we hope will facilitate the provision of services for the entire school. We ask the cooperation of all in implementing these guidelines.

General Usage Guidelines for Students and Teachers

    Library Visits

    • Students must have a completed and signed pass from their teacher to visit the library during class as well as during study and lunch periods.
    • All students should present their pass at the circulation desk, have it signed by Mrs. Lawson or Mr. Keim, and then retain the pass throughout the library visit. Students must also sign in using the Google Form on the Chromebook in the middle of the circulation desk upon arrival.
    • Students must have a purpose to visit the library and be committed to maintaining its quiet work space.
    • No food is allowed in the library.
    • Any student not adhering to these guidelines will be sent back to class with an explanation for the classroom teacher and may also lose library visiting privileges in the future.

    Printers and Copier

    • The black and white network printers (HHS_MC_CIR and HHS_LIBRARY_PUBLIC) are available for printing school-related materials. They are located behind the circulation desk. Please proofread and print preview before sending your work to the printer to avoid wasted materials. Remember to pick up what you print!
    • Students may use the color printer for required assignments only. Only teachers can print to the color printer. If your teacher requires an assignment printed in color, share the assignment with them to print for you. Printed color documents will be placed on the circulation desk for pick up at the student's convenience.
    • Students may use the library copier to make no more than a few copies. Users must adhere to copyright guidelines. See the library staff for assistance if needed.

    Circulation

Students may check out 2 print books for 4 weeks. Fines of .05 per day begin accruing after the due date with a maximum fine of $5.00. Students may not check out a book if a book is overdue or lost.

Books may be returned to the blue book drop.

    Textbooks

Teachers may request  a textbook check out for their class.

All textbooks are the property of Homewood City Schools and must be returned at the end of the academic year. Students will be charged the replacement cost of the textbook if it is not returned.
